Itinerary

Day 01:

Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will transfer you to Springlands hotel for meals and refreshing after the long journey .You will spend the night in Moshi waiting to begin your exciting safari the following day.

Day 2:

You will wake up the beautiful rising sunshine, after breakfast and a briefing from your guide, you will leave Moshi at 9 AM, drive for 45 minutes to the Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro, register with the national park, and begin hiking at 10:30 AM. As you pass in the rainforest you will enjoy viewing towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colubus monkeys. At these lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy,

so gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts should be sufficient, but keep your rain gear and warmer clothing handy. You will then break for lunch, and reach the Mandara Huts at 2 or 3 PM. You will then unpack, rest, and have some tea or coffee. A 15 minute side trip to Maundy Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. You can take your shower as you wait for dinner which is served at 7pm.You will spend your night in this beautiful designed Mandara huts

Day 3:

  • Mandara Huts (2,740 m/9,000 ft)
  • To Horombo Huts (3,690 m/12,100 ft)
  • 11 km, 6-8 hours Heath land

You will wake in the morning to the beautiful sunshine, at 7:30 AM you will take your breakfast, and prepare for your next trek.

You will leave the camp at 8:30 AM, then hike for an hour through rainforest glades, then follow an ascending path through heath land where you will watch the amazing giant lobelias and groundsels. Continue up into open moorlands where small shrubs are the main vegetation. After the half of the journey, you will stop for lunch, a place where you can enjoy amazing views of Mawenzi.

After the yummy lunch you will embark on the journey and arrive at the Horombo Huts by 3 PM, where you can see Kibo’s summit. This is where you will spend your night. You can take shower and refresh as you wait for freshly prepared dinner. You may start to feel the effects of altitude here, and to aid your acclimatization, you can choose to spend an extra day resting at Horombo or climbing to a base camp below Kibo’s sub peak Mawenzi.

Day 4:

  • Horombo Huts (3,690 m/12,100 ft)
  • To Kibo Huts (4,695 m/15,400 ft)
  • 10 km, 6-8 hours Alpine Desert

You will wake up to the beautiful rising sunshine, after breakfast pack for the hike.

You will start by climbing through the dwindling heath land that blends into a moonscape as you enter the sweeping saddle connecting Mawenzi and Kibo. At lunchtime, your guide will look for a best shade where you will enjoy your lunch whilst viewing the beautiful scenery .

You will then embark on the journey and cross the surprisingly large saddle, and examine the summit climb up Kibo that you will start in just a few hours. You should be careful to notice any signs of altitude sickness. In the evening you will be taken to Kibo huts for dinner and overnight stay. You won’t be able to shower since there is no running water.

Day 5:

  • Summit Day! Kibo Huts (4,695 m/15,400 ft)
  • To Uhuru Peak (5,895 m/19,340 ft)
  • To Horombo Huts (3,690 m/12,100 ft) 4 km up, 14 km down
  • 10-15 hours
  • Alpine Desert

You will wake up at midnight to a light breakfast, and then prepare for your summit ascent. The aim of waking up at midnight is to climb before dawn so that you can reach Uhuru Peak shortly after sunrise.

Leave at 1 AM, switchback up steep scree or possibly snow, and reach Gilman’s Point on the crater rim at 5,861 m/18,640 ft between 5 and 7 AM. Here, views of the fabled crater and its icecaps greet you. Another 2 hours of hiking along the crater rim near the celebrated snows takes you to Kilimanjaro true summit, Uhuru Peak, by 9 AM. This is Africa’s highest point, and you would have to travel more than 3,000 miles toward the Himalayas to find a higher peak! This a lifetime opportunity which you should take a photo for remembrance. You will spend at the summit for some time then descend back to the Kibo Huts, for the freshly prepared lunch. You will then take some few minutes of resting and then pack your things and cross the saddle to the Horombo Huts for dinner and overnight stay.

This is the most exciting Safari ever! You do the beginning of this climb in the dark with headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm clothes. This is, by far, the most difficult part of the trek. Slowly slowly, or, “pole pole,” and an optimistic attitude will get you there!

Day 6:

  • Horombo Huts (3,690 m/12,100 ft)
  • to Marangu Gate (1,830 m/6,000 ft)
  • to Moshi (890 m/2,920 ft)
  • 18 km, 5-7 hours

You will wake up in the morning then after breakfast, pack and get ready for the hike. You will descend through the moorland to the Mandara Hut.

You will stop here for lunch before continuing your triumphant recessional down through lush forest to the park gate, which you should reach around 2 or 3 PM. It will be the final day of interaction with your guides, cooks, and porters, since you will be leaving them here. You can thank them for the good job they have done for you or if you have anything you can reward them. Our Vehicle will take you back to the Springlands Hotel or similar hotel in Moshi, for dining and celebration as you reflect on the experiences you have encountered.

Day 7:

You will wake up to the beautiful rising sunshine and prepare to say goodbye to this amazing place. You can decide to explore other exciting places in Kenya or Tanzania. We are capable of arranging other exciting Safaris around Kilimanjaro region and Moshi. A visit to beaches of Zanzibar is best for you to recover after the safari.
